About the 200 chart

A 200 chart is a hundreds chart with a second hundred stacked underneath, and the second block is the reason to use one. 137 sits ten rows below 37, in the same column, so a child can see that the 1 in the hundreds place just means one more hundred. Moving one cell right adds 1, one row down adds 10, and ten rows down adds 100. The chart covers the spots where counting tends to wobble, such as 109 to 110 and 199 to 200. It suits first graders who have outgrown the 120 chart and second graders counting toward 1000. Use the blank page for writing the count out, or fill in a few scattered numbers and ask for the cells around them.

Grade level: this chart is used in our 1st grade math worksheets and 2nd grade math worksheets collections.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 200 chart used for?

Counting past 100, skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s up to 200, and spotting place-value patterns across two hundreds. It usually follows the 120 chart in 1st or 2nd grade.

How is the 200 chart laid out?

Twenty rows of ten. Every row ends in a multiple of ten, and each number in the bottom half (101 to 200) is exactly 100 more than the number ten rows above it.

Does it fit on one page?

Yes. The cells are wider than they are tall, which lets all 200 numbers fit on one US Letter sheet at a comfortable size. It scales onto A4 with fit to page.

What can I do with the blank 200 chart?

Have children write 1 to 200 in order, or write in a few starting numbers yourself and ask for the neighbors: one more, one less, ten more, ten less.
