About these worksheets
The “mad minute” shuffles operations so children must read the sign before answering — the skill mixed sheets exist to build. Thirty quick horizontal problems fit a one-minute sprint or a relaxed five. Because operations rotate constantly, it also exposes the classic slip of adding when the sign says multiply.

Frequently asked questions
What operations are mixed in?
Addition, subtraction and multiplication with single-digit numbers; subtraction never goes negative.
How is mad minute different from a timed test?
A timed test drills one operation deeply; the mad minute mixes them so sign-reading and switching become automatic. Classrooms use both.
Is 30 problems in one minute realistic?
For fluent kids, yes — roughly two seconds a fact. Start untimed, then try beating yesterday’s count within the minute.
