About these worksheets
Each sheet hangs its facts on rows of ornaments, with an answer line under every ornament, and the set gets harder every two sheets. Sheets 1 and 2 use only the ×2, ×5 and ×10 tables, the ones children learn first because they follow counting patterns. Sheets 3 and 4 mix facts up to 10 × 10, and sheets 5 and 6 go up to 12 × 12, with an 11 or a 12 in half of the facts. Sheets 7 and 8 change to 20 two-digit × one-digit problems in vertical layout, with room to write the carried digit. No fact appears twice on a sheet, and on sheets 3 to 6 a fact and its turnaround (3 × 8 and 8 × 3) never share a sheet either. That makes 220 problems in the set, and every sheet has its own answer key.

Frequently asked questions
What is on each sheet?
Sheets 1 and 2 have 30 facts from the ×2, ×5 and ×10 tables, such as 8 × 10 = 80 and 9 × 5 = 45. Sheets 3 and 4 have 30 facts up to 10 × 10, such as 9 × 8 = 72 and 7 × 9 = 63. Sheets 5 and 6 have 30 facts up to 12 × 12; sheet 5 includes 11 × 11 = 121 and 12 × 12 = 144. Sheets 7 and 8 have 20 two-digit × one-digit problems each, from 15 × 4 = 60 up to 73 × 8 = 584.
How do children work the 2-digit × 1-digit problems?
Multiply the ones first, then the tens, and add the carried digit. For 78 × 6 on sheet 7: 8 × 6 = 48, so write 8 and carry 4. Then 7 × 6 = 42, plus the carried 4 is 46. The answer is 468. The answer key shows the final product for every problem.
Which grade are these for?
Sheets 1 to 4 fit 3rd grade, when children are expected to know all the facts up to 10 × 10 (Common Core 3.OA.7). The 11s and 12s on sheets 5 and 6 are extra practice many classes add in 3rd or 4th grade, and the 2-digit × 1-digit problems on sheets 7 and 8 are 4th-grade work (4.NBT.5).
Do the facts repeat?
Not within a sheet. On sheets 1 and 2 a fact can appear both ways round, as 5 × 10 and 10 × 5 do on sheet 1, which is a quick reminder that the order does not change the answer. From sheet 3 on, each pair of numbers is used once per sheet. For more fact practice after the holidays, the single-digit multiplication worksheets have 25 facts a sheet.
