The pattern king: digits always sum to 9, and there’s the finger trick.

Answer key

How to learn the 9 times table
Every multiple of 9 up to 90 has digits that add to 9 (18, 27, 36…), and the tens digit is always one less than the multiplier: 9 × 7 = 63. The finger trick makes it physical — hold up ten fingers, fold the 7th, and read 6 and 3 either side. Children usually rate the 9s easy once they see it.
